Accelerating Policies & Research on Food Access, Diet, and Obesity Prevention

This one-day, interdisciplinary event highlights the most current research on food access, diet, and obesity.  Join us for an exciting exchange of ideas led by distinguished scholars and leaders in the fields of public health and nutrition to bridge the gap between research and practice.



Margo Wootan, ScD

The first keynote session by Dr. Wootan will explore how restaurant foods, retail food stores, portion sizes, advertising, disinformation campaigns, and defaults often encourage unhealthy eating and eating too much. Dr. Wootan will outline promising policy and environmental approaches that can help to reshape the food system and make healthier choices easier.





Mariana Chilton, PhD, MPH

The second keynote session by Dr. Chilton will describe research and policy issues on food insecurity and hunger.  Dr. Chilton will identify emerging approaches to preventing food insecurity, and provide a platform to discuss creative place making and policy making in these uncertain times.
